About Berty
I started taking photography seriously at the University of Washington and quickly realized I was most interested in how images can tell a story.
That curiosity eventually led me to a career photographing major campaigns, destinations, people, and products for global brands and tourism partners. Along the way, I co-founded The Mandagies with my wife, Emily, building an independent travel publication around original photography, destination storytelling, and a deep love of the Pacific Northwest.
Whether I’m directing a commercial campaign, photographing a destination, or making something just for myself, I bring the same curiosity into the work and look for the details that make the story feel real.

In 2016, my wife Emily and I founded The Mandagies, an independent travel publication focused on the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
