In the middle of a cold spring night in the desert, we found ourselves looking for a place to camp in Alabama Hills. We had no idea what we were surrounded by when we parked at night. When we woke up right before sunrise, just about to make our drive out to Death Valley, we were surprised by crazy landscapes all around us. We couldn’t help but stay awhile. What a pleasant surprise.

Back in October 2019, Emily and I decided to do a last-minute trip to a place we had always wanted to go to — Burgdorf Hot Spring. This hot spring has cabins that are over 100 years old that you can stay at for a very reasonable price, which was one of the biggest draws of this place, to begin with. We first heard about Burgdorf from when we did a photo assignment with Visit Idaho back in Winter 2017. In the winter this place is not easily accessible due to snow and you’d need a snowmobile to get here. So spontaneously, we decided to give this a try before the snow covers every inch of this place. We then drove 5+ hours to get here and ended up spending 3 days at Burgdorf Hot Springs in the backcountry of Idaho. Most of these cabins are over 100 years old and we got to stay in one. These 3 days spent here, ended up to be one of the most relaxing vacations we’ve had in a while, granted we rarely take any vacations and do nothing. And that was exactly what we did — nothing.
